Finding Comfort in Challenging Times
How gentle skincare can support recovery, rest, and recuperation
Illness — whether it’s long-term care, ongoing hospital support, or navigating cancer treatment — is a tender and complex subject, and not one we speak about lightly. In our own families, loved ones are moving through difficult chapters of ongoing care, and we know many of you are facing similar journeys. It felt important to open this conversation gently, with honesty and compassion.
As you may know, we are proud supporters of Cherry Lodge Cancer Care in Barnet, an independent charity that offers free support, complementary therapies and comfort to people affected by cancer, as well as their families and carers. Their work is very close to our hearts.
Over the years, we’ve spoken to many customers who are navigating cancer or recovering from treatment. Many have shared that during chemotherapy or other intensive treatments, our balms and oils have brought relief when their skin feels dry, delicate or more reactive. Our formulations are not designed as medical treatments, but they are created to offer gentle nourishment when the body and mind are under strain.
We use soft, soothing butters and cold-pressed plant oils in our formulations, and for many people, the gentle essential oil blends in our core range offer an added sense of emotional grounding and calm. These scents can help create a small moment of ease during times that feel overwhelming. For those with extremely delicate or reactive skin, we also offer our Super Sensitive range, made without essential oils. These products protect and comfort skin that needs the softest possible touch.
All our products are free from unnecessary synthetic ingredients such as parabens, silicones and artificial fragrance — something many customers appreciate when they wish to simplify their routine during or after treatment.
So often, it is the ritual itself that brings comfort: a quiet moment to pause, breathe and apply something soothing with warm hands. These small, grounding acts of self-care can offer a sense of peace that goes far beyond the surface of the skin.
Whether you or someone you love is moving through treatment, healing or simply facing a difficult chapter, we hope our products can offer a gentle touchpoint of care and calm. If you ever need help choosing the gentlest options for sensitive or compromised skin, please reach out. We’re here to guide you with kindness and thoughtful advice.
“I love this balm. Even though I’m having chemotherapy at the moment the Husk & Seed cleansing balm and oils are keeping my skin bright and moisturised. I’ve tried other products, but they just don’t compare.” Anne
