If you want skin that looks healthy, clear and smooth then cleansing your skin properly is one of the best things you can do, alongside wearing a good quality SPF every day and drinking plenty of water. If you can only choose one skincare product, then a decent cleanser is a must. It’s important to remove the day’s dirt, pollution, make-up, and SPF before you go to bed so that you’re not sleeping on a dirty pillow! A face wipe isn’t going to cut it! They push the dirt around the skin, plus they’re terrible for the environment. It’s also pointless adding serums and moisturisers to your skin if it isn’t properly cleansed. When the skin is clean and warm it is ready to absorb your other products more effectively.
Why choose the Super Sensitive Cleansing Balm over other types of cleanser?
Many of the face washes on the market are full of drying ingredients that are not good for the skin. The synthetic ingredients strip the skin of its natural oils, leaving the skin dry and tight. Your skin needs its natural oils to stay healthy and in balance. Our cleansing balm is butter and creamy in texture and formulated with natural plant oils and butters that bring nutrients to the skin instead of stripping it. It feels amazing to apply and it has the added benefit of removing with a hot cloth, which brings some exfoliation, but also is wonderfully relaxing at the end of a long day! The Gently Nourishing Cleansing balm is also great to use in a facial massage either with your hands or a Gua Sha massage tool.
Why is it different to other cleansing balms?
To bind the plant oils and butters together a balm needs wax. Many balms on the market are formulated with beeswax, but as we are a vegan brand (Leaping Bunny Certified) we formulate with a plant wax that is equally as effective, but kinder to our beautiful bees! It’s also easily absorbed by the skin. We only use premium, high end plant oils that are cold- pressed to retain their goodness. Our star ingredient is pumpkin seed oil which is high in vitamin E, Zinc and Omegas 3 and 6, which will hydrate your skin and help it to retain moisture as you cleanse, without leaving an oily residue. Pumpkin seed promotes a youthful appearance and will leave your skin looking fresh and clean! We avoid sunflower which is cheap and goes rancid very quickly.
Will the Super Sensitive Cleansing Balm remove make up?
Our cleansing balm is ideal for removing make-up, including waterproof mascara. We like our products to be multitasking, so we’ve formulated the cleansing balm to be the only product you need for cleansing, instead of buying a make-up remover and a separate cleanser. We like to double-cleanse in the evening – one cleanse to remove make-up, SPF, dirt and pollution from the skin and a second cleanse to do a little facial massage, that boost circulation and helps with lymphatic drainage. Apply a small amount to dry skin, massaging around the face and then removing with a soft, hot cloth.
Is the Super Sensitive Cleansing Balm suitable for sensitive skin?
Its perfect for sensitive skin. It is made with 100% natural ingredients that nourish your skin with vitamins and omegas. We don’t use any synthetic ingredients like foaming agents or alcohols that dry out your skin and can cause irritation. Your sensitive skin is left hydrated and glowing!
Are cleansing balms good for oily skin?
Yes. It’s a myth that oily products will make your skin oilier. In fact, you will find that the opposite is true. Often when our skin is oily, we reach for products that are too harsh strip the skin of our natural oils. Our skin then responds to this by producing more oil. When you use a gentle oil-based balm, your natural oils stay intact, and your skin becomes balanced and comfortable.
How much cleansing balm should I use?
All our products are waterless, including the Gently Nourishing Cleansing Balm. This makes it very concentrated and jam-packed with plant goodness! It also means that a little goes a very long way. Half a teaspoon of product is enough to cleanse your entire face and neck. We suggest starting with a small amount and adding more if you need to, but less is more in the case of our products.
Will your cleansing balm clog my pores?
No. Every carrier oil has a comedogenic rating, which scores how likely it is to clog your pores, 0 meaning non-comedogenic and 5 being severely comedogenic. None of the oils in our cleansing balm score over a 2, meaning its highly unlikely to clog your pores. Our balm helps to refine pores and leaves skin smooth and clear.
How often should I use a cleansing balm?
Morning and night is ideal. We recommend a double-cleanse at night, particularly if you wear make-up and SPF and a single cleanse in the morning. If you are short on time in the mornings, then a thorough cleanse in the evening is fine. It’s also important not to over-cleanse the skin as this can upset its natural balance.

Having been diagnosed with a Balsam of Peru allergy I was struggling to find products that didn’t contain that, or related ingredients. (Those ingredients constantly make the eczema round my eyes flare up.)
I’ve been using this, and the super sensitive moisturiser for the last 2 months and have managed to avoid steroid creams and flare ups since.
To start with it felt oily as it’s so different to what I was used to but now I am used to it, I love it and my skin definitely feels softer for it.

Removes light makeup well on one application. Quickly dissolves to an oil and easily distributed . Comes away well on two swipes of a warm rung out cloth.
Not sure of use around eyes but so far no irritation.

I have acne and have recently developed rosacea, I find it difficult to find skincare products that don't aggravate my skin. The sensitive cleansing balm hasn't caused my skin to flare, it feels really lovely and leaves my skin feeling clean, soft and moisturised.
I have eczema and this balm has passed the test it helps keep my skin soft and moisturised and having no perfume from no essential oils is perfect for me it feels like a nice ritual and it’s lovely that it has a natural scent that doesn’t irritate or dry out the skin. It’s quite special! ❤️

This is my favourite cleanser from the husk and seed range. I have tried them all. I like them all. But something about this product just edges it to top spot in my opinion.
