Help & FAQs

How can we help?

Answers to the questions we're asked most, from delivery and returns to how to get the best from your skincare. Can't find what you need? Just email us, we're always happy to help.

    Ordering & payment

Can I order without creating an account?

Yes, you can check out as a guest. If you do create an account, you can see your past orders in one place and you'll collect Rewards Club points on everything you buy.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major debit and credit cards, PayPal, Klarna and Clearpay. The options available to you are shown at checkout.

If you can't see Klarna or Clearpay, try choosing ‘Check out as guest’ and they should appear.

I haven't received my order confirmation email

Your confirmation email should arrive within a few minutes of ordering. Please have a look in your spam or junk folder first. If it's not there, email us at hello@huskandseedskincare.co.uk and we'll check your order for you.

Can I change or cancel my order?

We start packing orders quickly, so please email hello@huskandseedskincare.co.uk as soon as you can. If we haven't started on your order yet, we'll happily change or cancel it.

If it's already on its way, you can still return unused items once they arrive (see Returns & refunds below). If you'd like to add something, the quickest way is to place a new order.

Can I use more than one discount code?

Only one discount code can be used per order, and codes can't be combined. Discount codes can't be used on anything in our Offers collection, as those sets are already reduced.

Our ritual bundle savings (from the skin quiz or the ‘Build your ritual’ box on our skin concern pages) can't be combined with other codes, and Rewards Club rewards can't currently be used alongside a discount code.

A product says ‘Coming Soon’. Can I order it?

Not quite yet. Products marked Coming Soon show as sold out until they arrive. Sign up to our emails and we'll let you know as soon as they're ready.

    Delivery

    How much is delivery?
    • UK Royal Mail Tracked 48: £3.95, or free when you spend £60 or more
    • Royal Mail Special Delivery (guaranteed by 1pm next working day): £10
    When will my order arrive?

Every order is packed by hand in Kent, and most go out the same day. Orders placed after 2pm are posted the next working day, orders placed after midday on a Friday go out on Monday, and orders placed over a bank holiday go out on our first working day back.

Royal Mail Tracked 48 usually arrives 2–3 working days after posting. Things can take a little longer at busy times such as Christmas, and Royal Mail delivery times are a guide rather than a guarantee.

Do you deliver outside the UK?

We deliver across the UK, and to Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. We're sorry we can't ship further afield just now.

How do I track my order?

Once your parcel is on its way, we'll email you a Royal Mail tracking number. It sometimes lands in the junk folder, so it's worth a look there too.

    My parcel hasn't arrived

First, check your tracking and look out for a Royal Mail ‘Something for you’ card. Parcels are sometimes left in a safe place or taken to your local delivery office, and uncollected parcels are sent back to us quite quickly.

If your order hasn't arrived within 5 working days of its expected delivery date, email hello@huskandseedskincare.co.uk with your order number and we'll help track it down.

    I've entered the wrong address

Email hello@huskandseedskincare.co.uk straight away and we'll update it if your order hasn't left us yet. We can't redirect parcels once they're with Royal Mail. If a parcel comes back to us because of an incorrect address or a missed collection, we can resend it once the postage has been paid.

    Returns & refunds

My order arrived damaged, faulty or incorrect

We're so sorry. Please email hello@huskandseedskincare.co.uk with your order number and a photo or two of the problem, and we'll put it right with a replacement or a refund. You won't need to pay any postage.

What is the 30-Day Happy Skin Promise?

It's our guarantee on full-size products. If a full-size product isn't right for your skin, get in touch within 30 days of delivery. Send it back to us at least 80% full and we'll give you a refund (not including the original delivery cost) or store credit, whichever you prefer.

Return postage is paid by you, and if a free gift came with your order and isn't returned, we may deduct its value. The Happy Skin Promise covers full-size products only, so it doesn't include the Discovery Set, sample sets, gift sets or minis. It's in addition to your statutory rights.

    Can I return something I haven't opened?

Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to let us know you'd like to cancel, as long as the items are unused, unopened and in their original condition. Please email hello@huskandseedskincare.co.uk first so we can help. Return postage is paid by you.

    Can I exchange a product?

The quickest way is to return the original item and place a new order for the one you'd like. We can't exchange products that have been used, but our 30-Day Happy Skin Promise may still cover you.

When will I get my refund?

Once your return reaches us, we'll check it and let you know. Refunds go back to your original payment method, and your bank may take a few working days to show it.

Where do I send a return?

Please email hello@huskandseedskincare.co.uk before sending anything back and we'll confirm the details. Our address is Husk & Seed Skincare, Unit 3, The Granary, Horton Road, Horton Kirby, Kent DA4 9BN. Please pop your name, email and order number in the parcel.

    Our products & ingredients

    What does waterless skincare mean?

Our balms, oils and masks are made without water. Most creams and lotions are mostly water, so going without means every jar is full of plant oils, butters and botanicals instead, and a little goes a long way.

Water is also where bacteria like to grow, so waterless products don't need the synthetic preservatives that water-based creams rely on. You can read more on our Why Waterless? page.

    Are your products natural?

Yes. We make our skincare from plant oils, butters, clays and botanicals. Every ingredient is listed in full on each product page, so you always know exactly what's in the jar. If you have a question about any of our ingredients, email hello@huskandseedskincare.co.uk.

Are your products cruelty-free and vegan?

We never test our products or ingredients on animals, and we never ask anyone else to. Our whole range is vegan, with no animal-derived ingredients.

    Are you Leaping Bunny approved?

We were Leaping Bunny approved for many years. As the cost of certification kept rising, we chose to step away rather than pass that cost on to you. Nothing has changed in how we make our products: they're never tested on animals, they're vegan and 100% natural, and we carry out strict checks on every supplier we use.

Do your products contain essential oils?

Most of our range uses essential oils in small amounts. The balms and oils do the skincare work; the scent is there to make each use feel like a calming ritual.

If you'd rather avoid them, our Super Sensitive range contains no essential oils at all.

    Do your products contain nuts?

Some do. Ingredients such as shea, argan, cacay, coconut and walnut are used in our studio, so even products made without nut-derived ingredients may have come into contact with them. We can't guarantee any product is free from nut traces. Please check the full ingredient list on each product page, and speak to your GP if you have an allergy. If you have a question about a particular ingredient, email hello@huskandseedskincare.co.uk.

    Where are your products made?

Everything is handmade in small batches by our small team in Kent. Making little and often means your products are always fresh.

How long will my products last?

Look for the egg timer symbol on your jar. It shows how long we recommend keeping the product, counted from the month it was made.

Many of our products will last longer than that, but after this point they may lose some of their scent or be less effective. To keep them at their best:

    • Use a clean, dry spoon or scoop rather than your fingers
    • Keep water out of your jars
    • Close the lid tightly after each use
My balm looks a bit grainy. Is it OK?

Yes, it's perfectly fine. Natural butters such as shea can form tiny grains if they get warm and then cool down again, for example on a sunny windowsill or in the post. The grains melt as soon as you warm the balm between your fingers, and it won't change how it works. Keeping your jars somewhere cool helps.

If you'd like to restore your balm's original silky texture, you can gently melt the balm down and let it set again. Here's how to reset a grainy balm.

Still not sure about your balm? Email hello@huskandseedskincare.co.uk and we'll help.

Are your products suitable for everyone?

Our range is made for all skin types and all genders. If your skin is very reactive, start with our Super Sensitive range, and always patch test a new product first.

    Organic ingredients

    Are your products organic?

Many of the plant oils, essential oils and botanical powders in our products are organic, and we choose organic wherever we can. Each ingredient is labelled on our ingredients page, along with the products you'll find it in.

Our lavender comes from a local farm here in Kent, and many of our oils are upcycled, pressed from seeds and fruit that would otherwise go to waste.

Which of your ingredients are organic?

Oils and butters: apricot kernel oil & butter, avocado oil, borage oil, broccoli seed oil, camellia oil, carrot seed oil, castor oil, coconut oil, hemp seed oil, pumpkin seed oil, rosehip oil, safflower oil and walnut oil.

Essential oils: blue chamomile, clove bud, jasmine, rose geranium and yarrow.

Botanical powders: liquorice root, spirulina and tapioca starch.

Tap any ingredient to see what it does for your skin and which of our products it's in.

How can I see which products contain organic ingredients?

Every ingredient on our ingredients page has a ‘Find it in’ list linking to the products it's used in, and each product page lists its full ingredients.

    Using your skincare

Should I apply your skincare to damp skin?

Yes. After cleansing, apply your balms and oils to slightly damp skin. This helps lock in hydration, and they spread more easily and sink in beautifully, leaving your skin feeling soft and comfortable.

If you use a hot cloth to remove your Cleansing Balm, simply apply your next step while your skin is still slightly damp.

    How much should I use?

Less than you think. With no water in the jar, every scoop is made up of plant oils, butters and botanicals, so a pea-sized amount of balm or two or three drops of oil is plenty for your face and neck.

Warm it between your fingertips before pressing it in. Used this way, a jar lasts ages, which makes waterless skincare great value.

Can I layer a facial oil with a balm?

Yes, and it's a lovely extra treat when your skin feels drier than usual, at night or in colder weather. Press two or three drops of facial oil into slightly damp skin first, then smooth a thin layer of balm over the top. You can also mix a drop of oil into your balm in your palm before applying.

Can I get my masks or exfoliant wet?

Please keep water out of the jar. Our masks and exfoliant are waterless powders and balms, and any water that gets into the jar may cause them to spoil.

Scoop out what you need with a clean, dry spoon into your palm or a treatment bowl, and mix it with water there if the instructions say to. Then pop the lid straight back on.

    Do I need a toner?

No. Our cleansing balms won't strip your skin, so there's nothing to rebalance afterwards. If you love the ritual of a toner, a simple rosewater hydrosol is a lovely addition.

Tell me about your mineral sunscreens

Our sunscreens use non-nano zinc oxide to give broad-spectrum protection from UVA and UVB, with conditioning raspberry seed and plum kernel oils. Like everything we make, they're waterless, with a light feel, no white cast, and they sit comfortably under make-up.

Choose from SPF 30 with neroli, SPF 50 with lavender, our essential oil free Super Sensitive SPF 50 and our SPF 50 for the body.

Apply around half a teaspoon to your face and neck as the last step of your morning ritual, and reapply regularly when you're in the sun, especially after swimming, sweating or towelling.

    How are your sunscreens tested?

Every sunscreen in our range is tested in an independent laboratory to international ISO standards, including ISO 24443:2021 for UVA protection. That means the SPF on the label and the broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection have been verified, not estimated.

Do I need to patch test?

We always recommend it with any new skincare. Apply a little to your inner arm or behind your ear and wait 24–48 hours. If you notice any redness or irritation, don't use the product, and email hello@huskandseedskincare.co.uk so we can suggest an alternative.

    Finding the right products

I'm not sure where to start

Take our 2-minute skin quiz and we'll suggest a simple ritual for your skin. If you'd like to try before you commit, our Discovery Set has six minis to enjoy for 10–14 days, and our Trial & Travel collection has more little sizes to explore.

Would you rather talk it through? Email hello@huskandseedskincare.co.uk with your skin concerns, or book a skincare chat with Kelly, our co-founder.

My skin reacts to lots of things. What should I use?

Our Super Sensitive range is made with a short list of gentle plant oils and butters and contains no essential oils. The Super Sensitive Sample Set is a good way to try it. Please patch test first. If you'd like some advice, email hello@huskandseedskincare.co.uk.

Is your skincare suitable during menopause?

Yes. Hormonal changes can leave skin feeling drier and more sensitive than it used to, and our nourishing balms and oils are a favourite with many of our customers. The skin quiz will suggest a ritual for you.

I have a skin condition. Can I use your products?

Our products are skincare, not medicines, so we can't say they treat any skin condition. Many customers with reactive or easily flushed skin enjoy our Super Sensitive range. If you have a diagnosed condition, please check with your GP, pharmacist or dermatologist before trying something new, and patch test first.

Can I use your products when I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?

Most of our products contain essential oils, so we'd suggest checking with your midwife, GP or pharmacist first. Our Super Sensitive range contains no essential oils, which some people prefer at this time.

    Offers, rewards & gift cards

Do you offer a discount on rituals?

Yes. When you buy all four products in one of our skin concern rituals together, through our skin quiz or the ‘Build your ritual’ box on our skin concern pages, you save 15%.

The saving is added automatically in your bag and can't be combined with other discount codes or Rewards.

How does the Rewards Club work?

If you have an account with us, you're already a member. You earn 5 points for every £1 you spend, plus 200 points on your birthday, 100 points for a review and 500 points for each friend you refer. You can see your points and rewards by clicking the Rewards button at the bottom of the screen or your account icon.

Review points are added for your first review in any rolling month, so you can earn them up to once a month, however many reviews you leave.

Your tier is based on the points you earn over a rolling 12 months: Seedling (0–499 points), Sapling (500 points) and Harvester (1,000 points). Points expire 12 months after you earn them. Find out more about rewards.

Problem with your points or a reward? Email hello@huskandseedskincare.co.uk and we'll sort it.

How does Refer a Friend work?

Share your referral link and your friend gets £7.50 off their first order of £50 or more. Once they've placed it, 500 bonus points land in your account.

    Do you sell gift cards?

Yes. Our e-gift cards come in £15, £25, £40, £50, £60 and £100 and are sent by email with a unique code. Perfect when you're not sure what to choose.

    Rewards Club terms

Points have no cash value and can't be exchanged for cash, refunded or transferred to another account. We may change or end the Rewards Club, including point values, tiers and rewards, and we may adjust balances if points were awarded by mistake.

    Packaging & recycling

What is your packaging made from?

Our products come in glass jars and bottles with aluminium lids and paper-based labels, and every order is packed in cardboard with natural starch packing nuggets.

The one exception is our Natural Mineral Body Sunscreen, which comes in a plastic bottle because glass isn't safe around the pool or on the beach.

What are the packing nuggets made from?

They're made from natural starch, not polystyrene. Pop them in water and watch them dissolve, or add them to your compost heap, as they're completely compostable.

Can I recycle your jars and lids?

Yes. Our amber glass jars can go in your household recycling, and so can the aluminium lids and the cardboard your order arrives in. Our labels are paper based.

Better still, give your jars a second life. They're lovely for storing cotton buds, hair grips or seeds, or send them back to us (see below).

Can I send my empty jars back?

Yes, please do. Send us 5 clean, dry Husk & Seed jars with their lids (we can't take bottles) and we'll thank you with a discount on your next order. We reuse or repurpose what we can and recycle the rest.

Post them to Husk & Seed Skincare, Unit 3, The Granary, Horton Road, Horton Kirby, Kent DA4 9BN, with your name and email address inside. Any questions about recycling your jars, email hello@huskandseedskincare.co.uk.

Why is your body sunscreen in plastic?

It's the only product in our range that isn't in glass. Sunscreen goes to the pool, the beach and the garden, where broken glass could be dangerous, so we chose a shatterproof bottle. It's made from a single type of plastic, polypropylene (PP), with no metal springs or mixed materials, so it's easy to recycle. PP is now collected in household recycling by councils across England.

Can I have my body sunscreen in glass?

Of course, if you'd prefer it and it won't be going anywhere near the pool. Just add a note when you order. The glass bottle comes with a pourer spout rather than a pump, and it's a little heavier for travelling.
